Take The Walk South Africa

To date, six hostings of Take The Walk have been held in South Africa.

In 2009, Genevieve Wilton came back to her country of birth to host five walks in five cities, each representing one of the five causes that Take The Walk supports.

On March 15 last year, the campaign returned to South Africa, being hosted on the University of Cape Town's middle campus. The walk, which was covered for articles in the community newspaper as well as the Varsity paper, attracted 32 walkers, and was covered by the university's film, radio and newspaper medias.

We are in the process of planning a 13 walk Take The Walk series around the country for 2017 and 2018. The walk series starts on the tenth anniversary of the first walk, and will be hosted in Rondebosch. The other host cities are one in each province except Limpopo. In the interim, however, Melanie will be hosting a walk this year on World Water Day, 22 March, in Johannesburg. Specific venue and time will follow.

In very late September of 2014, the new hanson.net website was launched. Although initially scheduled for July, the site finally went public… One of the most captivating features of the new site are the pins, which are like (quote Zac) X-Box achievement points. Pins are awarded for viewing forum posts, posting in forums, viewing multimedia on HNET, sending Private Messages, etc.
